Workshops

Kurt and Kathy have presented workshops on a variety of topics for puppetry festivals in the Twin Cities and around the country. Topics have included:

Simple Marionette Construction
Marionette Controls and Stringing
Creative Puppetry for Sunday School
Techniques for Quick and Attractive Puppets

They have also developed hands-on marionette workshops that are effective for a wide range of ages.

Two String Horse Marionette

Two String Horse Marionette

This simple marionette is surprisingly effective. The movement of the mylar skirt will enhance a trot or a gallop. The horse pattern, copied onto cardstock, is cut-out and decorated. The mylar is simply glued between the two piece of the horse pattern. Strings attached at the tail and mane go up to a short stick.

Penguin Marionette

Penguin Marionette

This little fellow has only three strings, but he can waddle with the best of them. For a special surprise, his head can fly up, away from his body.

Corry: A Corrugated Cardboard Marionette Corry: A Corrugated Cardboard Marionette

Designed by Kurt as a "starter marionette", this fellow can be constructed without the use of any power tools (or prior experience). Corry is light weight, but well-balanced, and moves very well. He can even be built with a moving mouth.
